Biography

János Tamás Trattner, born in 1789, cultivated his craft as a printer during the dawn of the nineteenth century, bringing books and ideas to readers across Hungary. His press became known for its care in typography and for making both classical and contemporary works accessible to a wider public.

Trattner’s dedication to the printed word endured through the political changes of his lifetime; after his death in 1824 he was laid to rest at Fiume Road Graveyard, leaving behind a legacy of cultural enrichment.
