Jaroslav Houser (1912–1993) was a Czech individual whose life encompassed the dramatic historical transformations of Central Europe in the mid-twentieth century. He lived through the Nazi occupation, Soviet domination, and the eventual liberation of his country, maintaining his roots in Prague's Vinohrady neighborhood throughout these turbulent decades.
