Biography
Born in 1852, Jarvis Kenrick became one of the early figures of association football, representing Wanderers and playing a key role in the competitions that helped turn the sport into a national pastime.
In later life he settled in Bletchingley, where he was a familiar presence at the Church of St Mary the Virgin, offering encouragement to younger athletes and sharing memories of the spirited matches that defined his youth before his death in 1949.
