Jean-Baptiste Lamy, born in 1814, answered a higher call when he became the first Archbishop of Santa Fe, pioneering the Catholic Church’s growth in New Mexico by building schools, missions, and the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi that still glows with his care for beauty and tradition.
