Biography

Jean François de Saint-Lambert (1716–1803) was a prominent French writer whose literary career spanned much of the 18th century. His works contributed significantly to French letters during the Enlightenment, establishing him as an important voice in the intellectual and cultural discourse of his time.

Saint-Lambert lived through nearly nine decades, witnessing the transformation of French society from the ancien régime through the Revolutionary period. He died in 1803 at an advanced age and was laid to rest in Père Lachaise Cemetery, honored as a man of letters whose contributions to French literature remained influential throughout his lifetime and beyond.
