Biography

Jean-François Soitoux was a French sculptor whose artistic endeavors contributed to the rich sculptural traditions of nineteenth-century France. Born in 1816, he pursued his craft during a period of considerable artistic innovation and cultural development in Paris.

Soitoux dedicated his life to sculpture, creating works that reflected the aesthetic sensibilities of his time. He died in 1891 and was laid to rest in Montparnasse Cemetery, joining other distinguished artists in that hallowed ground.
