Biography

Jeremiah Evarts (1781–1831) was a missionary and reformer whose work profoundly influenced American religious and social movements. A passionate advocate for Christian missions and social reform, Evarts dedicated his life to spreading the Gospel and advocating for justice and moral improvement in American society.

Evarts was particularly known for his advocacy on behalf of Native Americans and his efforts to promote education and Christian values among indigenous peoples. His writings and activism made him a prominent voice in early 19th-century reform movements. Though his life was cut short at fifty, his legacy endured through the institutions and movements he helped establish. He was honored with burial in Grove Street Cemetery, a fitting tribute to his significant contributions.
