Biography

Jeremias Schultz painted civic scenes and intimate portraits that brought the streets, churches, and domestic life of eighteenth-century Leiden to vivid color.

His work still echoes within the walls of the Friedhof bei der Leidener Kirche, where he now rests among the city he so carefully recorded.
