Drummer Jerry Nolan's propulsive rhythms helped define the raw energy of punk and rock in the late twentieth century, including his celebrated years with the New York Dolls and other groundbreaking ensembles, while he balanced restless creativity with a generous heart, encouraging fellow musicians to trust their instincts.
