Jesse William Sweetser (1902–1989) was a trailblazing amateur golfer, the first American to win the British Amateur title in 1926 after earlier capturing two U.S. Amateur championships and representing his country with grace on international competitions.

He continued to serve the sport through administration and mentorship, and his presence is remembered at Congressional Cemetery as a quiet reminder of his championing of sportsmanship.
