Biography
Jimmy Swinnerton was among the pioneering cartoonists whose playful characters such as the Little Bears entertained newspaper readers at the dawn of the syndicated comic strip; his humor and distinctive drawing style made him a beloved figure in the early world of American comics.
As his career progressed he turned to watercolor landscapes that celebrated the light and flora of the American West, and the desert home near Desert Memorial Park remained a source of inspiration until his final rest among its palms.
