Biography

Jiří Bauer, born in 1923, represented the generation of young people determined to see peace restored to their homeland. He carried hope for the future even while the present demanded sacrifice, offering friendship and moral support to those around him.

By 1944 he had joined others in the effort to push back the forces that had overtaken his country, giving everything he had to that cause and meeting his end in service to his people. He rests at Bayeux War Cemetery, a reminder of the cost of liberty borne by the youngest among us.
