Biography

Joan Chalmers (1879-1923) devoted herself to lifting others through education, gentle encouragement, and a steady belief in the promise of every person she met. Her compassion made her a trusted friend to young and old alike, and her efforts quietly strengthened the fabric of River Street’s neighborhood life.

Though she lived only a few decades, Joan’s influence lingered in the laughter of children she guided and the comfort she provided to families in need. She now rests in River Street Cemetery, leaving behind a legacy of empathy and service.
