Joan Miró (1893–1983) was a Catalan painter and sculptor whose innovative work became foundational to modern art. A pioneer of surrealism and abstract art, Miró developed a distinctive visual language characterized by biomorphic forms, vibrant colors, and poetic imagination that profoundly influenced twentieth-century artistic movements.
Throughout his long and prolific career, Miró remained deeply connected to Catalonia, and his work drew inspiration from Catalan culture and landscape.
