Biography

Joaquim de Oliveira Álvares was a Portuguese-born soldier who served with distinction during the Napoleonic Wars and subsequent European conflicts. His military career spanned several decades, during which he earned recognition for his service and leadership in various campaigns.

Álvares spent his final years in Paris, where he became part of the expatriate military community. He was buried in Père Lachaise Cemetery, one of Europe's most prestigious burial grounds, reflecting the respect accorded to his military service and standing in Parisian society.
