Joel B. Bassett

Biography

Joel B. Bassett was born in 1817 and witnessed the birth of modern Cleveland, offering his wisdom to younger generations as the city grew around him. Over the decades he quietly lent his experience to the betterment of his neighborhood and remained a reliable presence for those who sought his company.

Bassett died in 1912, and the many lives he touched recall his steadying influence; he rests at Lakewood Cemetery, a place of peaceful remembrance.
