Johan Thorsøe
1834–1909 (age 75)
Biography
Johan Thorsøe followed the light of the 19th century into photography, recording ships, sailors, and families along Copenhagen’s piers with quiet patience.
His portraits and street scenes preserved fleeting moments of a harbor city in transition, and his memory rests now in Holmen Cemetery, where the calm of the water he once captured may still be imagined.
