Biography

Born in 1806, Johann Jakob Sulzer guided his entrepreneurial energy through the rapid changes shaping his canton, bringing together the agricultural roots of the region with emerging manufacturing to create steady employment and fair wages for local families.

He translated those successes into tangible improvements for public schools and vocational training during his later years, and he is remembered today at Rosenberg cemetery.
