Johann Zacharias Quast, born in 1814, was among the early photographers who brought the new art of photography to the people of Písek, capturing portraits and the town's landmarks with meticulous care. He taught others how to handle the delicate plates and chemicals of the day, leaving a visual record of the bridges, guild halls, and river scenes that anchored the community's identity.
