Biography
John B. Henderson devoted his life to public service as a lawyer, congressman and senator from Missouri. He played a crucial role in drafting and securing passage of the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, helping to abolish slavery and extend the protections of the law to millions.
His career later drew him into diplomatic efforts and civic causes, where he continued to argue for fairness and the rule of law. Henderson rests in Green-Wood Cemetery, honored for steady leadership in moments of national trial.
