John Bigelow

Biography

John Bigelow was born in 1841 and lived through some of the most defining moments of nineteenth-century America, offering calm leadership and moral steadiness to the circles in which he moved. He quietly supported the civic and cultural life of his community as Cleveland grew from a frontier town into a thriving city.

John Bigelow died in 1917, leaving behind a legacy of thoughtful engagement and friendship; he was interred at Lakewood Cemetery, where his memory lives on among those who knew him.
