Biography

John Brown lived fifty-five years, from 1760 to 1815, during one of the most transformative periods in American history. Born on the eve of the American Revolution, he grew to adulthood during the fight for independence and the establishment of the new republic. His life in Chesterfield reflected the experiences of those who helped build the foundations of the young nation.

Brown's memory is preserved in the Chesterfield Cemetery, where he was laid to rest in 1815. His life and legacy represent the dedication and sacrifice of those who lived through the nation's birth and early development, contributing to the growth and stability of their communities.
