Biography
John Bucklin witnessed Louisville's rise from a frontier riverside settlement to a bustling Kentucky city; born in 1773, he spent his life watching the Ohio River valley draw new settlers while neighbors relied on one another's steady presence.
Even though few records describe all he did, his interment at Cave Hill Cemetery reminds us of the many civic-minded residents who quietly sustained the life of the river town and whose memory endures in its calm hills.
