Biography

Reverend John Buckner devoted much of his long life to the service of Chichester Cathedral, guiding his flock with a calm intellect and a genuine concern for their spiritual welfare. His sermons conveyed both the weight of Scripture and the warmth of pastoral care.

He nurtured the cathedral’s traditions while encouraging thoughtful engagement with the wider society, leaving behind a memory of compassionate leadership at the heart of Chichester.
