Biography
John C. Chapple spent much of his life in the service of his community, first as a newspaperman whose reporting kept citizens informed and later as a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly. His belief in a free press and in thoughtful legislation guided efforts to improve local infrastructure and support public education.
Even after stepping away from full-time politics, he remained a respected voice in civic affairs, always ready to lend his experience to younger leaders and to champion the common good. The esteem in which he was held by fellow citizens was evident in the warmth with which they remembered his measured counsel and unwavering integrity.
