Biography

John Critcher (1820–1901) was a Virginia lawyer whose steady sense of justice carried him to the United States House of Representatives, where from 1871 to 1873 he represented his neighbors with careful deliberation during a time of rebuilding.

Returning to private practice, he remained a trusted counselor to succeeding generations and an active presence in civic affairs, and he is remembered with gratitude at Ivy Hill Cemetery.
