Biography
John Cunningham spent his career as a military officer, rising through the ranks during campaigns that spanned two world wars and keeping faith with the soldiers under his command. He was respected for combining tactical skill with a calm demeanor, always mindful of the heavy burdens that service places on ordinary people.
After active duty he remained involved in veteran affairs, quietly supporting comrades who were rejoining civilian life and sharing his experience in instructional settings where younger officers learned the obligations of leadership. He was laid to rest in Highgate Cemetery, where visitors can still reflect on the discipline and compassion he brought to duty.
