Biography
John Frederic Daniell brought rigor and imagination to the study of physics and chemistry in the early nineteenth century, pursuing his work at the University of Oxford and later at the Royal Institution. His invention of the Daniell cell brought greater reliability to electrical experimentation, while his meticulous observations advanced the emerging science of meteorology.
He is remembered in the parish of All Saints Upper Norwood for his careful scholarship and generous guidance to younger researchers, leaving behind instruments and writings that continued to inspire natural philosophers long after his passing.
