John G. Floyd (1806–1881) was a lifelong observer of his family’s traditions, leading the Floyd Family community with a blend of practical wisdom and gentleness. For decades he kept the bonds of kinship strong and served as a touchstone for relatives seeking reassurance amid national upheaval.

Interred in the Floyd Family Cemetery, Floyd is remembered for the patience he showed to young and old alike and for nurturing a sense of shared responsibility among his people.
