John G. Sproston

Biography

John G. Sproston (1828–1862) served with distinction as a Naval Officer, dedicating his life to maritime service and the defense of his nation. His career at sea represented the noble traditions of naval service during a critical period in American history.

Though his service was cut short by his untimely death at age 34, Sproston's contributions to the Navy remained significant. He was honored with burial at Green Mount Cemetery, a fitting tribute to his dedication and sacrifice.
