John Gregg

Biography

John Gregg, born in 1828 in Kentucky and later a resident of Texas, practiced law and served in the U.S. Congress before taking up arms in the Confederate Army, where he rose to brigadier general and led troops through some of the war’s fiercest battles.

He was mortally wounded near Nashville and is laid to rest at Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery, where his story is recalled with solemn respect.
