John H. Addams

Biography

John H. Addams (1822–1881) was a prominent Illinois businessman and politician who served in the Illinois State Senate and helped guide the Rockford-area community through the mid-19th century.

As the father of social reformer Jane Addams, he instilled in his family a commitment to civic responsibility, and he spent his later years in Cedarville, where his grave remains in the local cemetery as a point of reflection for families aware of the Addams legacy.
