John H. Piatt

Biography

John H. Piatt (1781–1822) was a young man whose life was lived during the transformative years following American independence. Though his years were limited to just forty-one, he lived through the establishment of the new nation and witnessed the early growth of American institutions and society.

Piatt's burial at Spring Grove Cemetery places him among the early settlers and notable figures of the Ohio Valley region. His life, though brief, occurred during a pivotal moment in American history when the young republic was establishing its foundations.
