John Kay
1742–1826 (age 84)
Biography
John Kay made his mark as a caricaturist who chronicled the faces and fashions of Edinburgh, sketching magistrates, merchants, and citizens with a sympathetic eye and a sharp sense of humour.
His engravings now form an enduring record of the city he loved, and the stones of Greyfriars keep the memory of the draftsman who caught the city's living portrait.
