Biography

John Landseer (1769–1852) was a distinguished English printmaker and engraver who made significant contributions to the visual arts during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. He was known for his skilled reproductive engravings and his work helped disseminate important artworks to a broader audience during an era before mechanical reproduction.

Landseer's career spanned several decades, during which he established himself as a respected figure in printmaking circles. He was buried in Highgate Cemetery, one of London's most prestigious burial grounds, reflecting his standing in artistic society at the time of his death in 1852.
