Biography

John Lawrence was born in 1785 and died in 1803 at the age of eighteen. He was interred in South Park Street Cemetery, Calcutta's historic burial ground that served as the final resting place for many members of the early European community in India.

John Lawrence's life, though cut short in his youth, is preserved in the records and monuments of South Park Street Cemetery. His grave stands alongside those of countless others who lived during the formative years of British colonial presence in India.
