John Leander Billard

Biography

John Leander Billard, born in 1842, came into adulthood during the Civil War era and carried the lessons of endurance and unity into the years that followed.

He was a familiar figure throughout the Walnut Grove neighborhood, contributing when needed and sharing in the celebrations that knit families together, and he is remembered there in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
