Biography

John Leslie Green dedicated his medical skills to the care of soldiers as the fighting raged across France, earning the respect of comrades with his calm judgment and steadfast courage.

During the Somme battles of 1916 he remained at his post tending the wounded despite mortal danger, and for his valor he was awarded the Victoria Cross; he lies at Foncquevillers Military Cemetery, a lasting tribute to his sacrifice.
