John McMullen

Biography

John McMullen, born in Ireland, answered a call to serve the Church in the United States and became the first bishop of the Diocese of Davenport, guiding parishes through a period of growth and devotion.

He encouraged the building of schools and charitable institutions, and when he passed he was laid to rest at Mount Calvary Cemetery, where his legacy endures in the thriving Catholic community he helped nurture.
