Biography

John Milton Elliott rose from the practice of law to serve both in the United States Congress and on Kentucky's Court of Appeals, earning the trust of citizens who sought a voice of justice and reason. He combined a keen legal mind with a passionate defense of civil liberties, even when the issues before him stirred great debate.

His life ended suddenly in 1879, yet the friendships he forged and the decisions he authored continue to remind Kentuckians of the value of integrity in public life.
