John Randolph Haynes devoted his life to progressive reform, urging Los Angeles and California to adopt direct legislation and fair civic processes while uplifting working families in an era of rapid change.
He also shared his resources through the Haynes Foundation, funding research and social service agencies so that future generations might approach policy with compassion and evidence.
