John Reily Knox

Biography

John Reily Knox, born in 1820, tended both the soil and the civic well-being of Greenville, investing in agriculture and in the institutions that sustained it. He cultivated trust through consistent labor and by sharing a sense of responsibility for the prosperity of his town.

He passed away in 1898 and was laid to rest at Greenville Union Cemetery, remembered as a hardworking citizen whose quiet leadership girded the community through changing times.
