Biography

John Rous, 1st Earl of Stradbroke (1750–1827), combined noble duty with steadfast public service as he took the responsibilities of Suffolk's landed gentry into the halls of Parliament and later the peerage.

His memorial at the Church of St Peter and St Paul in Wangford invites reflection on the courteous leadership he offered and the regard in which that community held him.
