Biography

John Stanhope Damrell (1829–1905) carried a strong sense of responsibility into every cause he embraced, always mindful of the common good and eager to encourage the better angels of civic life.

He was laid to rest at Forest Hills Cemetery, where friends speak of his resolute compassion and the calm authority he lent to the public sphere.
