Biography

John Trumbull was a man of the Revolutionary era whose life encompassed the founding period of the American republic. Born in 1750, he came of age during the American Revolution and witnessed the establishment of the new nation, participating in the community and civic life of his time.

Trumbull's long life, extending to 1831, allowed him to see the young nation develop and mature through its early decades. He remained connected to his community throughout his years, contributing to the social fabric of his era before his passing at the age of eighty-one.
