Biography
John Vines Wright, raised in Tennessee and admitted to the bar in the middle of the nineteenth century, devoted his energies to guiding his neighbors through the burdens of Reconstruction and earned election to the United States House of Representatives, where he advocated for measured progress and a fair legal system.
Throughout his life he remained committed to the rule of law, encouraging young lawyers and remaining a steady presence in civic affairs; he is laid to rest at Rock Creek Cemetery.
