Biography
Johnny Ace, born in 1929, rose from Dallas to prominence as one of the smoothest voices in rhythm and blues, recording for Duke Records and earning wide acclaim for tender ballads such as "Pledging My Love." His gentle delivery and heartfelt storytelling made him a favorite on both the airwaves and in concert halls, where audiences were drawn to the emotion in his songs.
