Biography

Johnny Gray was a reliable presence on pitching staffs, spending parts of the 1950s with the St. Louis Cardinals and lending his experience to younger pitchers facing big-league pressure.

After retirement he stayed close to the game by mentoring high school players and celebrating the camaraderie that baseball had gifted him for a lifetime.
