Biography
José de Charmoy (1879–1914) cultivated a fine sensibility for form and emotion, creating sculptures that reflected a deeply felt appreciation for the classical tradition while embracing new currents of the early twentieth century.
Though his life was cut short, Charmoy remains remembered for the promise of his artistic voice and for the tenderness he brought to marble and bronze; he now rests at Neuilly-sur-Seine New Communal Cemetery.
