Biography

Josef Bílek was born in 1906 in Prague during a period of cultural and artistic flourishing in the Czech lands. He came of age during the interwar period of Czechoslovakia.

Bílek's life ended in 1941 at the age of 35 during the German occupation of Czechoslovakia. He was interred in Vinohrady Cemetery, where he remains remembered.
